Delhiites witnessed a hot and humid day on Sunday as the maximum temperature touched 35.6 degree Celsius, four degrees above normal.
The minimum temperature was also recorded at 19.1 degrees, one degree above normal.
The temperatures are now set to increase in the coming few days, said the weatherman. On Monday, the mercury is likely to touch 36 degrees.
"The days are going to get warmer. The minimum temperature will also rise and is expected to reach 20 degrees on Monday and 22 degrees on Tuesday," said an official at the India Metereological Department.
Delhi is also expected to witness a dust storm in the evening on both days, he said.
For the past one week, Delhi has been witnessing a steady, but above average rise in temperatures. The maximum temperature on Saturday was a pretty uncomfortable 34 degrees Celsius, two notches above average for the season.
"It has become very hot suddenly. It was quite pleasant till a couple of weeks back. The temperature rose suddenly after Holi and we are now planning to bring out our coolers," said Meenakshi Jain, a resident of Mayur Vihar III.
