On Monday, most schools will declare their first list of selected children for nursery admission. But the grind is not over yet.
Taking admission in a school can be as exhausting as the application process.
Here are a few tips for you to brace yourself for what's ahead.
Arranging for funds equivalent to the fee of just one school can, at times, not be enough. Play safe and keep money aside for admission in two schools.
You might have taken admission in a school in the first list and then gotten through the one of your choice in the second list. It’s best to keep extra cashin hand, as the first school will not refund money immediately.
The process of refunding money can take up to a week.
Even if the school had verified your documents earlier, you should carry all your original certificates at the time of taking admission.
“Schools insist on checking original documents at the time of admission as the photocopies submitted along with the form can be fake. You can’t secure the seat unless we have checked all required certificates,” said Ameeta Wattal, principal, Springdales School, Pusa Road.
Though most schools ask for mostly the same documents (see box), we suggest you visit the school website for information.
All hands on board
It’s best if both parents are in town at the time of paying fee and securing the child’s admission in a school.
“Some school may want both parents to be around at the time of admission. It also helps to tackle last minute problems if both the mother and father are in town. If one of you fall sick, then the other can take care of fee and formalities. It’s best to be prepared,” said Rajan Arora, founder of www.nurseryadmission.com, a website that guides parents on admissions.
