Over 40 per cent employees of an MNC in Gurgaon worked from home to save fuel, during the strike.
Anshuman Guha, a software professional, was one of them. “Most of us decided unanimously in the morning as the news of the petrol crisis flashed on television sets. When we informed our HR department, it agreed,” Guha said.
Many like Sumit Srivasatava, a marketing executive, who had started using his car because of the cold weather, went back to their bikes. Some Others, mediaperson Atiya Siddique could not go to work as their cars ran out of fuel midway. “I had enough petrol to reach my office but most of it got wasted in looking for a petrol pump (to fuel up),” said Siddiqui with a grin.
But those working with the call centers or companies that provide pick ups and drops were the most affected as their cabs either failed to reach them or reached much later than usual.
