A 19-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped by four men while she was on her way to attend a wedding ceremony on Wednesday night.
The accused have been arrested after the victim reported the matter to police on Thursday.
In her complaint, the victim, a resident of Ballabgarh, said she hailed an autorickshaw, which already had two people inside it, around 9pm on Wednesday to attend a wedding function in Bhadkal area in Faridabad.
“As per the victim’s statement, when she reached Sector 16 close to National Highway, another person appeared on the scene and the four men, including the autorickshaw driver, bundled the girl into a goods carrier and took turns to rape her,” police officials said, adding that the incident took place around 10pm.
The accused later dropped her near Bhadkal Chowk and fled. The victim informed her parents from a public phone booth near Bhadkal Chowk from where her family members took her home, police said.
“On Thursday morning, the victim and her parents approached us and filed a complaint,” said Sanjeev Kumar, in-charge, Sector 16 police station.
The four accused have been arrested from Old Faridabad area on Thursday afternoon.
They have been identified as Virender alias Mircha, the autorickshaw driver, Banwari Lal, driver of the truck in which the girl was gangraped, Vijay alias Tara, and Chander Prakash. The four belong to different parts of Faridabad township.
“We have registered case of gangrape against all the four,” Ajit Singh, SHO central police station, said.
They will be produced before court on Friday, police said, adding that the medical examination of the victim has confirmed rape.
