After providing a forum for parents to share their concerns over nursery admissions, the website www.admissionsnursery.com is all set to launch a car pool forum and a helpline for distressed parents from February.
The forum will form groups of parents from across Delhi wanting to avail of private cabs or car pools to send children to school.
“Many parents have got their children admitted in schools where the school buses don’t cover their neighbourhood. Our forum is going to get together parents from various areas of the city and help them start car pools,” said Sumit Vohra, owner and administrator of the site.
The forum already has three groups of parents under DPS, West Delhi, DPS, South Delhi and Springdales School. “Most of the time, we don’t find other parents whose kids go to the same school and end up driving down ourselves everyday,” said Vohra.
The helpline will address issues of parents who have failed to secure admission in any school, KG admissions and other school-related queries.
“We have an educationist, a psychologist and the principal of a playschool on board. The helpline will begin functioning from February 15 and parents can leave their queries between 10 am and 6 pm,” said Vohra.
The answers would be posted immediately, he said.
“Those parents who fail to secure admission anywhere will be provided counseling to help them come up with alternatives. Many schools will open KG admissions after February. We will advice parents accordingly,” said an active member of the site and parent Ratna Balli.
The forum would also hold monthly meetings for parents to share their experiences of the schools.
“We don’t want it to end with nursery admissions. We will meet regularly and discuss the positives and negatives of schools. This way we will be able to help parents next year,” Balli said.
