Three youths abducted a teenager from Mizoram, attempted to rape her, robbed her of her mobile phone before dumping her at an isolated place in south Delhi early on Thursday morning.

A case was registered at the Vasant Kunj north police station and the youths were arrested later in the day.

The youths were identified as Aayush, Ankit and Rohit, all residents of Kalkaji area in south Delhi. While two are students, the third is employed with a private company, police said. They had abducted the victim on the pretext of giving her lift in their Chevrolet Aveo car.

The victim, who lives in south Delhi’s Munirka in a rented accommodation and works as a beautician at a salon, had gone to a club in Vasant Kunj area on Wednesday night.

At the club, a police officer said on the condition of anonymity, the accused befriended the girl and partied with her.

“Around 3 am, when the victim decided to leave for home, the youths told her that they would drop her in their car. On the pretext of giving her a lift, they abducted the girl. They drove her in their car around the streets in south Delhi and attempted to rape her in the vehicle, said the officer.

“But due to her constant resistance, the youths failed in their designs. Around 3.30 am, they forcibly snatched her mobile phone and dumped her at Swami Nagar area near Chirag Dilli.”

The victim, the officer said, approached the Vasant Kunj north police station in the morning and lodged a complaint.

A medical examination confirmed her allegations after which a case was registered and the accused were arrested, the officer added.
