An employee with the Ministry of Culture has been arrested on charges of allegedly raping his maid at Netaji Nagar in south Delhi, police said.

In another case, the police registered a case against a cook with the Indian Air Force for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marrying her.

Sources said the case was registered following Air Force authorities forwarding the complaint filed by the woman and requesting police to take appropriate action.

The woman had claimed that she was living with Kishan, the cook, for the past 10 years and recently she came to know that he had a wife and children.

According to her, she confronted him but he threatened her with dire consequences if she approached the police.

She then wrote a complaint to the Air Force authorities, who then forwarded it to the police.

In the Netaji Nagar case, Rajinder Yadav, a Hindi Translator at the Ministry of Culture allegedly raped his 21-year-old domestic help on Tuesday.

“When his spouse was away at her parents’, Yadav, hailing from Mou in UP, had called the 21-year-old maid to his home on the pretext of cleaning it and washing the dishes before sexually assaulting her,” claimed H.G.S Dhaliwal, deputy
commissioner of police, south district.

The maid, who had been working at Yadav’s home at Netaji Nagar for the past two years, was cleaning the utensils in the kitchen when Yadav allegedly forced her into the bedroom.

He then threatened to kill and implicate her in a case of false theft if she didn’t cooperate with him.

After the ordeal — that lasted for two long hours — the maid was allegedly allowed to leave Yadav’s residence at around 8:30 pm, police said.

She was medically examined at the Safdurjung Hospital after she and her husband registered a complaint against Yadav at the local police station.
