From now on, the printed sale prices of packaged products in definite weight categories will be rounded off so that you won’t have to struggle for change when buying a pack of biscuits or pulses.
That’s not all. The quantity in most packaged products will be in multiples of 25g, 50g or 1 kg as the ministry of consumer affairs introduces it new metrology rules.
Manufacturers often reduce quantity of packaged products by small fractions without making a change in the price. The new directive will help check this practice. The rules will cover around 20 popular categories of packaged products, such as cereals, baby food, aerated drinks and detergents.
