NIA diffuse sparks between Delhi, Mumbai police
Meet the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the new firefighting agency of the country. Yes, you read it right. Besides cracking terror cases, the NIA is being pressed into action for firefighting as well. Recently, sparks flew between the Delhi Police and Mumbai Police, who were at loggerheads over the investigation into the Indian Mujahideen module led by Yasin Bhatkal. Delhi Police claimed that a person they were using as informer was arrested by the Mumbai police. A stage came during confrontation when there was no communication between the two forces despite working on the same module. The NIA officials were sent to Mumbai to mediate between them and make them share information and documents.
Two officers to join sports, youth affairs depts
Two new IAS officers are set to join sports and youth affairs departments as the current secretary Sindhushree Khullar has been appointed as secretary of the Planning Commission. The government is set to zero down on two young officers for these two departments and announcement of their names is likely to be made next week. Till then, Khullar is looking after the charge of these two departments along with the Planning Commission. She has replaced Sudha Pillai, whose term as member secretary ended on March 31.
Jena to hire new personal secy from Orissa
Srikant Jena, minister of statistics and programme implementation, is set to have a new private secretary. His current private secretary Rakesh Aggarwal has completed his seven year term in Delhi and is expected to return to his parent cadre, Punjab. Jena is expected to have a new personal secretary from his home state Orissa.
