Two of three secretary level officials, who are causing uneasiness in the environment ministry, are likely to be moved out of the ministry. The two special secretaries are MF Farooqui and Mera Mehrishi and both are in-charge of key global environmental negotiations. Farooqui deals with bio-diversity and Mehrishi was India’s chief negotiator at Doha climate talks.
New private secretary for heavy industries minister
Heavy industries minister Praful Patel is getting a new private secretary Maushmi Chakarborty, an Indian Information Service official. Chakarborty had earlier worked with him as information officer of civil aviation ministry, which he headed till recently. Government officials said her new appointment has been approved by the Cabinet.
Scanners at govt offices help in catching petty thieves
Not just the terrorists, the scanners installed at the government buildings at the Central Secretariat are serving to catch the office thieves. It is a known exercise that officials and visitors have to thrust their belongings into the scanners while entering these high-security buildings, but lately the scanners are helping the offices curb petty thefts. Employees are now seen shoving their belongings while leaving too. “What to do. There have been cases like that,” said one employee coming out of Shastri Bhavan.
