Very soon the horror of the Delhi high court blast will be recreated on celluloid. A group of budding filmmakers from Jamia Millia Islamia is making a movie on the blast.
Second-year students of Jamia’s AJK Mass Communication Research Centre got the idea of filming the sad story of 14 victims who lost their lives after reading about their families in the newspaper.
The team has already decided title for the movie. “Courting terror’. “We are in the process of drafting the script. We’ll also be meeting the families of victims. Through our movie, we’ll tell the heartbreaking stories of these people,” said Aesha Paul, a second-year student.
Anshuman Shekar, who will direct the film, said, “We’ll begin with the shoot soon. We are also planning to meet the eyewitnesses.”
The aspiring filmmakers have the plans of sending their movie to national and international film festivals for screening. The roles in the film will be enacted by professional theatre actors.
“People from all walks of life became victims to the blast. From a 19-year-old law student, to an RTI activist who was fighting for the people, got killed in the blast. There can’t be a more moving script than this,” said Esha Kaul, who is writing the script for the film.
Police custody for email suspect
JAMMU: Amir Abbas Dev, 19, the main suspect in the drafting of a terror email sent after the Delhi High Court blast was sent to seven-day’s police custody. Dev—suspected to have links with the Pakistan-based terror outfit Harkat-ul-Jehad-al-Islami (HuJI)—was arrested along with Hilal Amin, 19. The two were detained after Shariq Butt, the teenager who sent the e-mail from Global Internet Café at Kishtwar claiming responsibility for the blast on HuJI’s behalf, reportedly told the NIA and J&K police he had sent the email on Dev’s directions.
