The Delhi high court has rejected a police inspector's plea for quashing a trial court’s order to the Delhi police chief to initiate a departmental inquiry against him for botching up a probe into a three-year-old murder case.

Dismissing the plea of inspector Dharamvir Singh of Dabri police station to scrap the lower court’s order for a probe against him, Justice Shiv Narayan Dhingra held that “unearthing truth is the duty of courts and the lower court was only doing its duty”.

He upheld the trial court’s findings and and directed the police commissioner to conduct an inquiry against Singh.
