The Delhi High Court has sought an explanation from Delhi Public School here for cancelling the admission of a student who could not attend classes because of his parents' matrimonial dispute.

Justice S Ravinder Bhatt also issued notices to the DPS society and the state government on a petition filed by Agrim Abrol through his father.

Abrol, a class prep student of DPS Rohini, approached the court after his name was struck off from the rolls without any intimation, Ashok Agarwal, petitioner's counsel contended before the court.

The student, who got admission in the academic year of 2006-07, had been on leave since May due to matrimonial dispute between his parents.

The school cancelled his admission on the ground that it did not get the application seeking extension of Abrol's leave on time.

The court, after hearing the contention of the student, directed all the parties to file their response by January 7 when the matter would be taken up for further hearing.
