A 22-year-old man was stopped and stabbed as many as eighteen times by unidentified assailants in the Dwarka area in Southwest Delhi on Monday night. The victim whose condition is critical was getting married on February 28.

The police said that Sunil Kumar was returning home in his black Santro car after distributing his wedding invitation cards. The assailants in an Alto car first forcibly stopped him and then stabbed him with bladed weapons.

According to police, the incident took place at about 6:00 pm in front of an MCD school near Kakrola Village in Dwarka. Police said the victim, a resident of that area, had gone to Kakrola More for wedding shopping. “After shopping and distributing invitation cards, he was on his way home when the incident took place. The assailants were in an Alto car. They first stopped their car in front of Kumar's car and then brutally stabbed him. After assaulting him they fled from the spot,” said a senior police officer.

Kumar was immediately rushed to the nearby Ayushman Hospital. From there he was referred to Max Super Specialty Hospital in Saket. According to his family, his condition is critical.

Suraj Bhan, the uncle of the victim alleged that their neighbour Satish Kumar is behind the attack. "We fear for the lives of our other children. Satish had some argument with Sunil after which a personal enmity developed between the two. We are sure that Sushil along with his friends committed the incident,” he said. He added that Satish was a bad character in the area and had gone to jail for three years in an attempt to murder case.

Police are investigating the matter and say a police, a manhunt has been launched.
