A Head Constable (HC) with the Uttar Pradesh Police raped a 14-year old girl inside the Sahibabad police quarters on Friday evening, police said.
A case of kidnapping and rape has been registered against HC Shyam Lal, at the Bhajanpura police station in northeast Delhi.
Police said Lal, who hails from Meerut, is absconding. The Ghaziabad police have terminated him from service with immediate effect.
According to Delhi Police officials, Lal met the victim’s family about nine months ago. Around 3pm on Friday, Lal took the victim on a joyride in his Santro car.
“The mother did not object, as he had taken the victim out on earlier occasions,” said a senior police officer.
After raping her, he dropped her home at 10 pm and even had tea with the family, the officer added. It was only after he left that the girl told her mother what happened.
Police said the victim was taken to the Sahibabad police quarters where he lives on the first floor.
“The victim told us that Lal took out his gun and threatened to kill her if she spoke about the rape,” said a senior police officer.
The victim’s mother took her to the Bhajanpura Police Station late on Friday and registered a complaint. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical test where rape was confirmed.
SSP Ghaziabad L. Ravi Kumar said, “He used to call the victim his daughter while introducing her to his neighbours.” Four teams have been sent to Meerut and Mainpuri to look for Lal, he added.
The accused has earlier been charged with negligence and indiscipline on duty.
