The police have arrested a domestic help and her husband for allegedly murdering their 68-year-old senior citizen employer after robbing her of cash and jewellery worth around Rs 12 lakh.

The police arrested Rubi Begam (35) and her husband Rakesh Mehra (27) from Gopal Nagar in Jalandhar, Punjab, on Wednesday.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal said, “They allegedly stabbed to death Rajinder Kaur (68) at her residence in West Delhi’s Rajouri Garden on July 17 and robbed cash and jewellery.”

Suspicion fell on Rubi as she went missing after Kaur’s murder. Aggarwal said, police received information that the couple was hiding in a relative’s house in Jalandhar.

“They were then arrested and they confessed to committing the murder,” added Aggarwal.
