AVM Pillai (24), a constable with the CISF who killed his female colleague NVS Teja at Yamuna Bank metro station on Friday was upset over the fact that Teja was to marry someone else.

Teja, who knew Pillai ever since 2009, had returned from her hometown in Andhra Pradesh last week. She told Pillai about this development.

“Teja’s parents were not letting her marry Pillai, who hailed from Tamil Nadu,” said a senior CISF officer. Teja, who had just finished her shift at New Ashok Nagar metro station, met Pillai, posted with the CISF’s Quick reaction Team (QRT), at Yamuna Bank Metro station. Both were exchanging text messages before meeting.

Teja was to take a bus to go to the CISF camp in Indirapuram but she chose to wait for Pillai. About 10 minutes after meeting, Pillai shot her dead and then killed himself.
