Come spring and Delhi comes alive with fragrance. And adding to the bounty is Delhi Tourism's Itra & Sugandhi Festival, which begins on March 25 at the Pitampura Dilli Haat.

The festival aims at showcasing India's rich heritage in the field of natural perfumes and essential oils . A host of itra, perfumes, sugandhi and essential oils and allied products will be on display.

"Itra and essential oils are made in Kannauj. What we see in the market is a mere glimpse of the industry. The festival aims at making the entire array of fragrances available to the people," says Sudhir Sobti, public relations manager of the event.

The event, to be flagged off by lighting a 6.5-feet high incense stick, is trying to further its business in the international arena by reaching out to importers and exporters.

"This is the first time such an event is being organised in India. The idea is to acquaint people with how they are made, inform them about their varieties and value in the market," says Sobti.

The festival also promises to have a variety of cultural events by the Sahitya Kala Parishad as well as wellness conferences by Aromatherapy. To be inaugurated by chief minister Sheila Dikshit, the festival will be on till March 27.
