Southeast Delhi Police have arrested a homeopathic doctor for allegedly murdering his domestic help after she allegedly started 'blackmailing' him.

Dr NK Sharma -- a retired sergeant from the Indian Air Force -- allegedly hit the victim, Meena Kumari (55) on her

head with a brick and strangled her with an electric wire after sedating her.

"The victim once caught him with a call girl. After that she started blackmailing him and threatened to tell his family about it. So he killed her,"

said Additional Commissioner of Police (southeast) Virender Singh.

"Sharma, who separated from his wife in 2008, was running a clinic in Badarpur of south Delhi. The accused was caught yesterday from ISBT Kashmere Gate when he was trying to flee Delhi."

According to police, on October 26, Meena Kumari's highly decomposed body was found at Sharma's rented house in Saini Gali, Bhagwan Nagar in Sunlight Colony.

"About two months back, Meena saw him with a sex worker in the first floor of the clinic and she started blackmailing and defaming him. Sharma was worried that she would tell this fact to his sons and wife and made a plan to rid of her," said Singh.

The police said that on October 20, he mixed four tablets of Alprex in soft drink and gave it to her. Then he took her to Sunlight Colony on the pretext of giving her treatment. There while she was asleep he allegedly hit her with a brick and then strangled her.
