NEW DELHI: The Capital on Saturday reeled under heat wave conditions as the mercury soared to settle at 42.9 degrees Celsius. The high humidity levels also caused discomfort to Delhiites.

The Safdarjung observatory, the reading of which is considered as the official figure for the city, recorded a maximum temperature of 42.9 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature settled at 30 degrees, both three notches above the season’s average, said a Met department official.

The Palam observatory registered a maximum temperature of 45.3 degrees Celsius, the official said. Humidity in air oscillated between 70 and 32 per cent. The Met office has forecast clear skies for Sunday.

“The skies will be mainly clear. Dust haze is likely to occur towards morning and evening.

“The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 43 and 30 degrees Celsius respectively,” the weatherman said. On Friday, the minimum temperature had settled at 28.7 degrees Celsius while maximum temperature was recorded at 42.7 degrees Celsius.
