HT employees’ society gets top honour
The Hindustan Times Media Limited Employee Cooperative Society has been judged the best in the thrift and credit sector, reports HT Correspondent.
Commending the rapid growth of cooperative movement in Delhi, chief minister Sheila Dikshit awarded some of the best working societies in the city on Tuesday.
The 54th All India Cooperative week celebrations concluded with the award distribution function held on Tuesday at FICCI auditorium.
It was organised by the Delhi State Cooperative Union Ltd. along with the Registrar, Cooperative Societies and the Government of Delhi.
The Hindustan Times Media Limited Employee Cooperative Society was judged the best in the thrift and credit sector, Delhi State Cooperative Bank Limited got the highest prize in the banking sector.
In the housing sector, Delhi Cooperative Housing Finance Corporation got the top award.
The president of the Delhi State Cooperative Society, V. P. Singh and Deep Chand Sharma, the general secretary of the Delhi State cooperative society were in attendance.
The function was presided over by Raj Kumar Chauhan, the minister for cooperatives, Government of Delhi.
The awards were distributed to various cooperatives that excelled in increasing their membership, reach and growth over the past year and help strengthen the cooperative movement in the city.
P. M. Sharma, the chief executive of the Delhi State Cooperative Society, stated some of the merits that the Delhi state cooperative had achieved especially in areas such as Dwarka, Vasundhra Enclave, I.P. Extension and Rohini, which are rapidly changing Delhi into a modern metropolis.
He said: “A cooperative is like the UN which should work by the maintaining the equality of its members”.
