The Arya orphanage administrator told the Delhi high court on Wednesday that he had quit on his own.

PP Dhal, summoned to the court by a bench headed by acting chief justice AK Sikri, told the judges that the media had wrongly reported that he had been asked by the government to put in his papers as he was “not able to measure up to the task”.

After giving a hearing to Dhal inside his chamber, Sikri said in open court that the administrator had actually written to the government to relieve him of the job, as he was preoccupied with many other responsibilities.

The court is monitoring the situation at the orphanage after converting an email from NGO Haq Foundation, seeking intervention for ensuring urgent corrective steps.
