The controversy over the ‘abduction’ of actor-filmmaker Deepak Tijori’s 13-year-old daughter, who was taken by an unidentified man to a Madh hotel for a few hours, has angered his family. Tijori said his family’s reputation is being maligned.
He said: “My daughter and her friend were shopping in Lokhandwala market at 4.45 pm when a stranger, around 20 to 25 years old, threatened her and took her to a dingy hotel called Mantra Residency hotel. The media reports are misconstruing everything. No physical force was used because he never had to. She was mentally threatened to go with him. He said to her: ‘You come and don’t get your friend along or I will bash you up.’ It was also very traumatic for her friend, who called my wife to tell her about the incident.”
He added that the man had the audacity to drop the girl back home after three hours because she had started crying loudly in the hotel. “It’s crazy, she is only 13… How could the hotel allow the stranger to take my daughter with him? Just because he paid them extra and told them he would be there only for half an hour.”
The hotel employees confirmed to the police that the girl was with the accused.
“The people at the hotel gave a statement that they saw the stranger take my daughter… This is what happens in broad daylight in a city that is considered the safest for women. What do I do? Send a maid and driver with my daughter all the time? This guy dropped my daughter home and disappeared. I am going to get him from his grave. I just went and met the cops and they are saying: ‘We are investigating…’ I will definitely get this guy,” said Tijori.
