An employee of the BPO arm of IT major IBM reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the 11th floor of his office complex in Gurgaon’s DLF Cybercity on Wednesday morning. Police have ruled out the possibility of an accident or foul play. The deceased, Pravin Mathur (32), was rushed to a private hospital in Sector 51 where he was declared brought dead.

ACP (East) Sumit Kumar said Pravin worked with IBM Daksh as a Voice Calling Agent. “About 11.30 am Pravin came out of his office on the 11th floor of Cyber Greens building and approached the staircase area. Eyewitnesses confirmed he jumped from the 11th floor. Primary investigation indicate it is a case of suicide, not accident or murder,” Kumar said. He added the police would be talking to Pravin’s colleagues and relatives.

Police said Pravin jumped from the narrow tunnel of the staircase and probably hit the concrete structures and iron railing. Immediately after Pravin fell, his colleagues rushed him to Artemis Hospital.

Dr. Vishal Sehgal, consultant (Emergency Medicine) at Artemis Hospital said Pravin died of excessive bleeding and severe head injuries. "We attempted to revive the patient who reached the hospital with severe head injuries and external and internal bleeding. He had multiple fractures all over his body and his legs were broken below the knees. The front and back portion of his skull was also broken. His lungs were full of blood," Dr. Sehgal said.

Roma N Sachdev, spokesperson for IBM Daksh refused to comment except to say it was a sad and unfortunate moment for the company.
