A hectic poll campaign that culminated in a massive victory for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took its toll on CM-designate Arvind Kejriwal’s health on Thursday with the AAP leader cancelling all his outdoor meetings. He has reportedly been suffering from cough and fever since February 8.

Soon after meeting PM Narendra Modi, Kejriwal was examined at his residence by family physician Dr Vipin Mittal. The doctor advised him complete bed rest to regain his strength for the swearing-in ceremony at Ramlila Maidan on Saturday. Kejriwal has also been asked to avoid a proposed roadshow from his residence to the Ramlila Maidan.

“Kejriwal is suffering from high fever and cough. He has taken antibiotics to control the fever. He has been advised bed rest as he hasn’t rested for the last one week. I strictly advised him against going out. He avoids allopathy and follows ayurveda and naturopathy,” Dr Mittal said, adding that another check-up will follow on Friday morning and if needed, tests will be carried out.

Party colleagues Manish Sisodia — tipped to be the deputy CM — and Dilip Pandey would attend meetings in Kejriwal’s absence.
