A Delhi court today sought explanation from Tihar Jail authorities as to why action should not be taken against them, for failing to ensure security of a suspected Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist, who was assaulted by blade-wielding inmates inside the prison.
Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Santosh Snehi Mann directed jail authorities to submit an action report on the recent attack on Salman, an accused in the serial blasts that rocked the capital in 2008.
"It is necessary to call for the action taken report and for an explanation from authorities as to why necessary action be not recommended against them for failing to discharge their duty," the court said.
ASJ Mann also took exception to the submission by the jail authorities that the victim of the attack had told the police officer investigating the matter that he did not want to pursue the case or seek any action against his assailants.
