India deeply concerned over Lahore attack
India expressed deep concern over the terrorist attack in Lahore, but refused to draw a parallel between the incident and the Mumbai attacks.
India on Monday expressed deep concern over the terrorist attack in Lahore, but refused to draw a parallel between the incident and the Mumbai attacks.
“We are deeply concerned. We condemn these terrorist attacks. We condemn all terrorist attacks,” Home Minister P Chidambaram told reporters when asked to comment on terrorists storming a police training centre near Lahore.
He said New Delhi offers sympathy to the government and the people of Pakistan.
Asked whether he saw any parallel between the Lahore incident and the Mumbai attacks, he said there could be no parallel.
“But, the commonality is these are terrorist attacks. The difference is that in Mumbai the source of terrorist attack was Pakistani soil. In the case of (Lahore) attack we do not know who is behind it,” he said.
Condemning the deadly attack, Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma said the incident showed that the terror infrastructure in Pakistan was growing.
Pakistan will have to continue dismantling the terror infrastructure on its soil which is a threat to several countries, he said.
