Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on Saturday the country was willing to commit to "ambitious" carbon emission reduction targets as long as it was part of an "equitable" burden sharing framework.

"India is willing to sign on to an ambitious global target for emissions reductions or limiting temperature increase but this must be accompanied by an equitable burden sharing paradigm," Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said in a speech released by his office in New Delhi.
