An Indian-American accused of planning the contract killing of his African-American daughter-in-law was found guilty on Thursday by a Georgia jury.

Prosecutors alleged Chiman Rai, 68, a former math professor, did not approve of his son's marriage to the 22-year-old victim, Sparkle Michelle Rai, because of her race. The killing took place in April 2000. The prosecution has said it will seek death penalty for Rai.
