An Indian was killed in a crossfire in Bahrain, which is witnessing protests for past several weeks, even as India on Friday advised its nationals there to stock up big on rations and not to go out of their homes, saying the situation was "tense but calm".

Stephen Abraham, working with Al Moyad Construction Company, was caught in a cross fire on March 16 and succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, India has decided against granting emigration clearance to any worker headed for the Gulf nation.

This precautionary measure is for a month, and will be reviewed if the situation improves, senior officials said.
