Felix Sabal Lecco may not be well known in India, but the percussion legend fondly known as 'Mr Groove' is emphatic about the excellence of Indian artistes in the world.

The Cameroon-born and Paris-based Felix who is one of the most well known drummers in the world music and pop genres, performed in the capital recently.

Felix, who feels completely "at home in India," said that he grew up listening to Bollywood music

"Growing up in Cameroon in the 70's we used to listen to a lot of Indian songs and watch Indian movies. India has such a strong musical culture that its artistes are the best. When an Indian singer comes to Paris, all of France's big singers go to listen because when it comes to music, you are the best," said Felix.

The drummer who has worked with everyone from African saxophonist Manu Dibango to international heavyweights like Sting, Youssou N'Dour, Paul Simon, Peter Gabriel and Sade said that after 'Slumdog Millionaire,' India has captured everyone's fancy.
