After missing the July deadline, a team of investigators is likely to visit Iran to probe the leads into the terror strike that targeted Israeli diplomat and three Indian nationals in New Delhi early this year.
Iran had agreed for and Indian probe team visiting the country at the meeting between foreign minister SM Krishna and his counterpart Ali Akbar Salehi in New Delhi in May. Subsequently, a letter roagtory was sent to Iran for sending a team to probe the “leads” in Iran about six people, and it was then decided to send a team in July. But citing busy schedule, the probe team didn’t take up a trip and instead they wanted MEA to find a date at the earliest, most probably in August.
Meanwhile, terming reports about the direct involvement of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the 13/2 attack ‘factually incorrect’ and ‘baseless’ the Delhi Police, on Monday, denied that any member of the IRGC was involved in the conspiracy to target an Israeli diplomat’s wife.
“The Delhi Police has only sought the details of six persons of Iranian origin, whose names are already known, suspected to be involved in the conspiracy and execution of the attack,” said a senior Delhi Police officer.
However, Israel embassy said in a statement Israel reiterayed what they said on the issue earlier — Government of Iran is responsible for the terrorist attack against an Israeli diplomat and three Indian nationals in the heart of New Delhi.
