Nearly 20 days ago, on November 10, an Indonesian defence personnel was looted of R2 lakh kept in a Mercedes Benz car he was travelling in. And the police are yet to make a headway in the case.
The incident took place in the posh New Friends Colony area of south Delhi when the defence personnel, a colonel with the Indonesian Navy, who was accompanying a delegation Indonesian armed forces, had parked the car in front of a restaurant.
“The colonel had parked the car around 8pm at the parking lot outside a restaurant in New Friends Colony. After that, someone broke the left window of the car and took away R2 lakh kept in the vehicle,” said a senior police officer.
The Mercedes, in which the delegation of Indonesian armed forces was travelling in, had been rented from a private transport company in central Delhi.
“The money was meant to cater to the needs of the delegation. The driver of the car was away at the time of the incident. A bag along with some important documents went missing from the car,” the officer added.
In the FIR, the complainant has alleged that the tourist transport company should be held responsible for his loss.
“We have registered a case and have started investigating, though no arrests have been made in the case. Initial probe suggests that someone who knew about the money must have done this. The driver of the car has also been interrogated,” the officer said.
