Jamia Millia Islamia will begin distribution of forms for the 2009-2010 academic year from Thursday.
The prospectus and forms for the various courses on offer will be sold from a centralized sales outlet run by the Maktaba Jamia behind the old SRK hostel on the main campus.
“Admissions shall be offered for 205 courses spread across nine faculties, 32 departments and 12 research centres,” a spokesperson said. “The sales outlet will remain open on all days including Saturdays and Sundays,” the spokesperson added.
Applicants can also download the forms and prospectus from the Jamia website, jmi.nic.in. The forms can be submitted along with a demand draft for the prescribed admission fee.
Over 1,10,000 prospectus and forms have been printed so far for sale through the single authorised outlet.
Students applying for courses in engineering and technology, architecture and ekistics, education (for B. Ed. and diploma in Elementary Teacher Education courses only), AJK Mass Communications Research Centre, and Centre for Management Studies, have to pay Rs 500 for the forms. Forms for all other courses cost Rs 200.
Jamia conducts entrance tests for all courses except Ph D. The written test has 85 per cent weightage and the rest is for the interview. While there is no cut-off percentage, applicants have to score an aggregate of 45 per cent to qualify for the entrance test.
The last dates of submission of most courses are from first week of May onwards. But those applying for M Sc Electronics, B Tech. and diploma in engineering should check for the submission dates and send in applications early.
