Heizo Takenaka, economic adviser to Japanese PM Shinzo Abe, will deliver the IISS-Oberoi Lecture at The Trident, Mumbai on March 25 on "Abenomics and the Resurgence of Japan's Economy".

Takenaka, a world-renowned economist, has held several ministerial posts including economics and financial services minister in the cabinet of PM Junichiro Koizumi between 2001 and 2005. He helped restore confidence in Japan's banking system by demanding that banks admitted to and wrote off bad loans.

Abe has impressed markets with a strong fiscal and monetary stimulus package, "Aben-omics", to revive the economy and end 20 years of stagflation.

The IISS Oberoi Lectures and Forum have so far brought to India Robert Zoellick, former president, World Bank, Tharman Shanmugaratnam, deputy PM and FM, Singapore, Klaus Regling, CEO, European Financial Stability Facility; Kevin Rudd, former PM of Australia and Pascal Lamy, director general, WTO.
