In a shocking incident, an employee of a television company followed his girlfriend from her home and then attacked her with an acid bulb in Kalyanpuri area of east Delhi on Saturday night.
The man held a grudge against the woman as she had spurned his advances for marriage. The accused identified as Satish Kumar (25) is absconding.
Twenty one-year-old Radhika Verma (name changed) was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital with 20 per cent burns. Her face has been disfigured. She was later on shifted to GTB Hospital.
The incident took place around 7.30 p.m. on Saturday when Radhika left her home to go to a nearby market. She told the police that when she reached the market, Satish confronted her.
“When Radhika asked him to get out of her way, Satish took out an acid bulb and threw it on her face. The market was bustling with people when the incident took place. Some passerby took Radhika to hospital,” said a senior police officer.
Radhika and Satish were working at a manufacturing unit of of a television company at Noida. She had even complained to her seniors about Satish’s harassment. Police have registered a case against Satish.
