The Jawaharlal Nehru University authorities revoked the rustication of five students on Thursday. The rustication of students, including the students’ union president, was revoked on the recommendation of a five-member committee and after the students tendered an apology.
The committee, which included JNUTA president Prof S.N. Malakar, was formed on March 5 following the mediation of JNU Teachers Association in the standoff between the administration and the students. The students have been protesting the hike in the price of prospectus and commercial use of university space. The administration had rusticated the students on February 25 after which the students had launched an indefinite hunger strike.
