Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Vidhan Sabha constituency office at Kirari in west Delhi was on Friday ransacked by “goons”, who also attacked an AAP volunteer present in the office and injured him seriously.
“Amit Kumar, our volunteer, was beaten up badly by the goons, who probably intended kill him by dunking his head in a bucket full of water. He is admitted in a hospital,” AAP said in a statement. The office is located on 70 Foota Road in Prem Nagar 1, Kirari.
“Our office at Kirari ransacked. Our volunteer beaten up v badly (sic),” Kejriwal tweeted.
Kumar was discharged later.
Two motorcycle-borne assailants followed Amit Kumar on his way to the office and warned him of dire consequences if he opened the office, the party said and claimed, “When he still opened the office, one of the goons, wearing a helmet, entered behind him.
When Amit resisted, the second man entered and locked the door from inside. After beating him, they shoved down his head in a bucket full of water and let him off only when his mouth started foaming.”
The goons also ransacked the office and tore off a detailed list of donations received in the area put up on the wall. The AAP statement added: “Our struggle against corruption would continue with more zeal.”
However, police said no such incident had been brought to their notice.
Later, Kejriwal and another AAP leader Sanjay Singh visited the Kirari office.
