An eight-year-old boy was abducted from his residence, sodomised and strangulated in southeast Delhi’s Jaitpur area on Wednesday night.
Son of a rickshaw-puller, the victim is reported to have disappeared from his Meethapur, Lane Number 16 residence around 10 pm on Tuesday night.
“His body was found on the first floor of an under-construction building, barely half a km away from his residence.
It was discovered by a local resident Suresh around 7 the following morning. Suresh immediately intimated the father, who later approached the local police,” said a senior police officer on condition of anynomity.
Police sources added that the little boy was learning to repair punctures at a roadside workshop under the supervision of his father’s acquaintance. He was found in a semi-naked condition with his legs bound by a plastic rope.
He was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he was declared brought dead on arrival. The medical examination confirmed that he had been sodomised.
“We have reason to believe that some local criminal elements are involved in the crime and we are rounding them up and questioning them about the incident. The person who intimated the family about the incident is also under our scanner,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, at least one person has been detained for his alleged involvement in the incident and a case of sodomy-cum-murder has been registered at the Jaitpur Police Station.
Ajay Chaudhary, additional commissioner of police (southeast) was unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.
