The Delhi police arrested a 37-year-old woman, her paramour and another man for allegedly killing her husband in the Begumpur area of outer Delhi. It was the victim's children — two teenaged daughters and a five-year-old son — who gave the police a lead about the killers.

"Manju Joshi, her paramour Lekhraj and Deepak Sharma (27) were arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of her husband Dinesh Kumar Joshi," said Chhaya Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).

"Manju was upset with her husband as he was a drunkard and used to beat up her and other family members. He had also sold his flat and other household articles to fund his drinking," Sharma said.

Manju reportedly got involved with her landlord's son Lekhraj as he used to help her financially. She allegedly planned her husband's murder with Lekhraj.

"Her children were questioned and they said their father was last seen with Lekhraj. The woman and Lekhraj were questioned and they confessed to the crime," Sharma said

On June 16, Manju left her husband in drunken condition with Lekhraj, who, along with his friend Deepak, took Dinesh to a vacant land in Rohini Sector 23 on a two wheeler and murdered him. He also disfigured Dinesh's face with a stone.

On June 15, Dinesh and his wife had gone to his sister Seema's house. The next day they went back but after four days, Manju called Seema and told her that Dinesh had left them at Sector-5 in Rohini on June 16 and hadn't returned.

"Seema told her to wait for sometime as Dinesh often used to leave house without informing anyone in the family. When he did not return till July 12, they went to lodge a missing person's report at Vijay Vihar police station. They identified Dinesh's body in a hue and cry notice at the police station," Sharma said.
