Railway Minister Lalu Prasad had a pleasant surprise on his 60th birthday on Monday when he was presented with a seven-feet-long cake in the form of a train with five coaches and an engine.
The ‘birthday boy’ was all smiles as he cut the 11-kg cake amid much fanfare at his residence where his loudly- cheering supporters and well-wishers burst crackers and organised a musical programme. The cake was presented to the RJD supremo by the Tamil Nadu unit of his party.
The birthday festivities , which started late last night as Lalu celebrated the occasion with his party leaders ,wife Rabri Devi and children, continued all through the day as a large number of his friends and well wishers thronged his residence at Tughlaq Road to greet him.Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, too, conveyed their warm wishes to him.
It was , however, left to his bete noire Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, to point out the fact that the RJD chieftain did not actually know his exact date of birth.Greeting him from Patna, Kumar told mediapersons in a light vein that “Laluji” himself didn’t know when he was born , a fact that he himself had stated several times.
