If you are a Metro commuter and lose your luggage, baggage or personal effects while travelling to your destination, take heart.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has begun displaying the list of all lost and found articles on its website.
It's part of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation's (DMRC) effort to help speedy retrieval of items/belongings lost by passengers while travelling by the Metro.
So if you are the forgetful type, log on to www.delhimetrorail.com and trace your belongings.
"The details of lost items are now being updated on a daily basis under the Lost & Found section of the website," said a DMRC spokesperson. The list gives all the details, including date, time and name of the station where the articles were found or handed over to DMRC staff, along with its description, officials said.
The claimants of such items can approach respective Metro stations — as shown in the list — within 24 hours of it being displayed on the website, to claim the items.
However, if passengers are not able to reclaim their belongings within one day from the station, they may then approach the centralised Lost & Found office at Kashmere Gate Metro Station.
DMRC sends all items found in Metro trains or stations to the Kashmere Gate office after 24 hours. Thereafter, these articles are kept here till claimants reclaim them. According to DMRC, about seven to 10 lost items are recovered from Metro stations daily.
These items include clothes, water bottles, lunch boxes, wristbands, watches and umbrellas, among others.
Currently, about 1,000 such items can be found waiting for their rightful owners at the Kashmere Gate office.
