A man allegedly threw acid on a 27-year-old girl after she turned down his advances. The incident took place outside the Mandir Marg Police Station in New Delhi on Monday.

Immediately after throwing acid on the girl, the accused, Pradeep, a Jahangirpuri resident, fled the scene. The girl had to call her brother who took her to RML Hospital.

“The victim has suffered burns on her right cheek, chest and arms,” said a police officer.

The victim works for a beauty parlour in Patel Nagar and was waiting for a bus when Pradeep attacked her. She said Pradeep told her that if she did not marry him, he wouldn’t let her marry anyone else. “We have launched a manhunt for Pradeep and registered a case against him,” added the officer.
