A tempo driver was arrested in Outer Delhi allegedly with 324 kg of ganja having a street value of around Rs 50 lakh, police said on Tuesday.
Jaipal Singh, a resident of Azadpur, was apprehended yesterday from near Shani Bazar on Narela Road during a checking, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Chhaya Sharma said.
"He tried to flee with his vehicle but was intercepted. He was asked to produce the papers of the tempo but he failed. On suspicion, the vehicle was checked and 37 plastic packets of ganja were recovered," Sharma said.
The recovered ganja weighed 324 kg having a street value of around Rs 50 lakh.
During questioning, Sharma claimed, Singh told police that he had purchased the tempo in 1994. Around 7-8 months ago, he came in contact with one Ajay, an alleged carrier of drugs, and entered the world of crime.
