A three-year-old girl died after she was allegedly assaulted by her maternal uncle in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai area on Thursday evening.
“The victim has been identified as Babita and the incident occurred at her uncle Ravi’s residence in JJ Camp located at Tigri Extension area on Thursday evening,” said a senior police officer.
According to police, Babita’s death was a result of a violent argument between her uncle Ravi and mother Poonam.
“Babita used to stay at Ravi’s residence with her mother Poonam, 31, and younger sister Radha, 2. A violent argument broke out between Ravi and Poonam on Thursday evening during which Ravi assaulted Poonam and Radha before throwing Babita on the floor,” the officer said.
Police said an unconscious Babita was rushed to the Trauma Centre at AIIMS while Ravi fled the scene.
