A middle-aged man was found in a pool of blood on the tracks at the Sikanderpur Metro station on Friday evening. A commuter informed the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials who, in turn, then called the police.

However, Metro services were not disrupted, said DMRC officials. “The incident took place around 8pm on platform number 2. It is yet to be ascertained whether it was an accident or suicide. The body was taken to the Civil Hospital in Gurgaon. The police are investigating the matter,” said a DMRC spokesperson.

This incident caused panic among commuters at the Metro station. Some commuters, who saw the body, said it was apparently a case of suicide, while others said there were injury marks on the victim’s hands.

The police said the man apparently died after being hit by a Metro train.

“We cannot say anything until the body is identified and a post-mortem examination is conducted,” said a police officer.
