Relying on the testimonies of 19 prosecution witnesses, including the 17-year-old victim, whose deposition was found to be "trustworthy and credible," the court sentenced the convict under Section 376 (2)(g) (gang rape) of the IPC.

The trial against Vishnu's accomplice, who was a juvenile at the time of the incident, is running before the Juvenile Justice Board in New Delhi.

As per the prosecution, the victim was gang raped by the duo on October 25, 2003 at a lonely place in Sonia Vihar in East Delhi here.
