The Delhi high court has ordered the BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd to pay a compensation of over Rs15 lakh to a man who lost his 10-year-old son in a roof collapse in 2007.

The incident happened at a house in the Delhi Electric Supply Undertaking colony, now belonging to the power firm.

While ordering payment of Rs15.26lakh to Varinder Prasad for the death of his son Ajay, justice Vipin Sanghi awarded him a litigation cost of Rs50,000 and asked BSES Rajdhani to share the same with the Delhi Transco.

The court also asked the city police chief to examine expeditiously Prasad's complaint accusing the power distribution firm of being negligent in maintaining the colony.
