A 20-year-old man and two of his juvenile accomplices were apprehended for allegedly murdering his ladylove after she refused to accede to his demand of ‘not talking to other men’ in northeast Delhi.

Sanjay Kumar Jain, deputy commissioner of police (northeast) said Ashok, a resident of Gautam Puri, and his two accomplices were arrested on Sunday for strangling Chanda, a tenant at Ashok's house.

“From the modus operandi, it appeared to be the handiwork of someone who was known to the victim and was familiar with the topography of the area,” DCP Jain said, adding that Chanda's body was found lying near the MCD flats in the New Usmanpur area.

During investigation, it came to light that she was last seen with Ashok. After he was apprehended, Ashok broke down and spilled the beans.

“He revealed that he had met Chanda while she was a tenant in his house. He fell in love with her,” DCP Jain said.

Ashok told the deceased not to meet her male friends, to which she objected and threatened to get him implicated in a false case of rape, alleged the police. This, the police alleged, prompted Ashok to kill her.
