A 38-year-old man was arrested for allegedly luring a Class 10 student into living with him for over a week.

The police rescued the minor girl from the house of the accused, Gangaram, who has been charged with rape and wrongful confinement.

According to police, Gangaram was arrested following a missing person's complaint lodged by the girl's family on January 25. The girl's parents had told the police that their daughter did not return home after school.

"During investigation, it was learnt that the girl was living with Gangaram, a married man, at his house. Since Gangaram was living in the same locality, an affair developed between him and the girl. He then lured her into living together at his house. On basis of the girl's statement and medical examination, Gangaram was arrested and sent to jail," a senior police officer said.

In another incident, a young welder was arrested for allegedly trying to rape a 9-year-old girl at her house in southwest Delhi's Bindapur on Monday afternoon. The girl was alone at her house when the accused barged into the house. He locked himself inside a room with the girl and tried to force himself on her.But the girl screamed for help and a neighbour informed the police.
